Artifact #7: Optional Homework Survey
During my exploration of whether homework should be eliminated I implemented "optional homework." Optional homework gives students the choice to do or not to do homework. This provided students who would like to do homework with an assignment to practice what was taught in class, and it gave other students the freedom to use their time on the homework or on whatever else was going on in their lives at the time. The way I introduced the implementation of optional homework can be found to the right.

ARTIFACT 7B. OPTIONAL HOMEWORK SURVEY
After introducing the idea of optional homework I gave the survey (Artifact 7B) depicted above to get feedback from students, and I wanted to know if students were planning to do the optional homework. A record of student responses helped me keep track of student beliefs over time. The flow chart to the right (Artifact 7C) shows student responses to the first question on the survey.
